Sensex adds 40 points in a lacklustre trade; IT names surge

In the 30-share pack Sensex, HCL Tech was the biggest gainer, up 3.93 per cent at Rs 843. It was followed by Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Kotak Mahindra Bank, M&M and TCS that gained in the range of 1-3 per cent.
